It’s not being Cancelled cancelled. But ya, it’s been cancelled.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but unfortunately, It’s been announced that the Peabody and Emmy-winning comedy series Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj will not be renewed for a seventh season. Hasan Minhaj himself shared the bad news on Twitter, where he mentioned he “got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game”.

Patriot Act was a comedic approach to various cultural and political issues happening all over the world. Not even the global pandemic was able to stop the show since its sixth volume consisted of eight episodes filmed at home in front of a green screen.

Is it just us, or does Netflix seem to constantly cancel amazing shows? Either way, join us down memory lane, and let’s say farewell to Patriot Act by remembering the show’s best episodes.

1. Amazon

In this episode, which aired in November 2018, Hasan explains Amazon’s role in the United States economy, analyzing how this monopoly might evolve in such a way that, in the future, no one will be able to shop online or use any web service without going through them. Hasan doesn’t hold back and points out how Amazon’s practices can be pretty aggressive—and sometimes shady.

2. Affirmative Action

This was the first episode, ever, of the show, and also one of the best out of the forty. Minhaj explains the complex backstory and frequent misunderstandings about affirmative action. He questions Asian-Americans’ part in suing Harvard University over its admissions policy and how that could kill affirmative action.

3. We Cannot Stay Silent About George Floyd

This is the top-rated episode on Episode Ninja, and it doesn’t surprise us. The reason why is simple—not only does Minhaj discuss something that forever changed the history of the United States, but he also passionately expresses the need to take action to support the Black community after the death of George Floyd.

4. Why Billionaires Won’t Save Us

Season 5 offered us this amazing episode, where Minhaj discusses the truth about billionaire philanthropists, how they manage to evade taxes, and how no matter how much they donate to charity they still have control over the world and how it will change in the future. He unveils the true intentions behind billionaires’ apparent “good deeds”, when in fact their empire is often built through injustice, labor exploitation, and political interests.

5. Why Doing Taxes Is So Hard

Don’t we all just wonder that? Well, Hasan explains why it is so complicated, in what turned out to be the show’s very last episode. Throughout the episode, he exposes how bad TurboTax, the online tax-filing service, actually is. “For a lot of customers, TurboTax Free Edition is not free. They may tell you it’s free, you may think it’s free, but TurboTax uses all kinds of deceptive tactics to make sure that you pay,” Minhaj explains.
