Prepare for 3 hours of McConaughlouges
It’s not a fugazi, a fugaazi, not a waazi, or a woozi, it’s Professor McConaughey and yes, he’s really going to teach you about taking Script to Screen. Well, not you precisely, unless you’re currently enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, more specifically, in the Moody College of Communication.
Just this past August, McConaughey was appointed as a professor of practice, joining the Department of Radio-Television-Film. He’s been serving as a visiting instructor since 2015, and now officially holds the position. Of course, since he doesn’t have his Ph.D., he is declared as a professor of practice, rather than a professor. A small inconsequential technicality given the vast industry experience McConaughey has.
The chair of the Department, Noah Isenberg, praised McConaughey’s teaching ability saying “He has a passion for teaching, and for all things cinematic, that is palpable, even infectious.”
McConaughey, sorry, Professor McConaughey actually developed the curriculum for the course, giving students a “unique, behind the scenes view of each stage of a film’s production,” as stated by the University.
The new professor has praised the class himself stating he wishes he had a class like this when he attended the University of Texas. While he wasn’t fortunate enough to have such a successful actor teach him the in’s and out’s of turning words on a paper into a film, new students will be much more fortunate.
Alright, alright, alright, now that we’ve covered all this, it’s time to assign you your readings for next class.
