If anything, something’s malfunctioning when it isn’t raining chocolate from the skies.
It seems like Willy Wonka has been up to something lately—or at least that’s all we can think about after what happened in a small Swiss town. The entire population of the town of Olten, Switzerland woke up on Tuesday morning to a rather sweet surprise. Why? Well, they noticed that it was snowing fine particles of cocoa powder i.e. chocolate!
There’s a very logical explanation to this, and we hate to deliver bad news but no, it’s not the work of Oompa Loompas (unfortunately). Apparently, there was a malfunction in the ventilation system at the Lindt & Spruengli chocolate factory. This caused chocolate nibs to fly across the entire town, coating it with a thin layer of this sweet ingredient.
The company has offered to pay for anyone who needs cleaning, but thankfully no one has needed it so far. In fact, people took the sweet surprise extremely well and shared the good news online. After all, who doesn’t like to be surprised with some chocolatey goods?
Lindt UK informed Twitter users of the chocolate rain incident (), and although they assured everyone that the vents are fixed now, they let us know they had a few ideas for Christmas. That’s enough to get us excited for the end of this year.
Could this be the miracle we have all been waiting for in the middle of a chaotic year? Maybe! We bet the town of Olten felt like they were trapped in a fairytale. Of all the things we’d love to watch fall from the sky, chocolate is definitely in our top 5 list—right between money and wine.
And no, we didn’t forget about this old gem.
